Call for Dissertation Papers

The 15th IEEE/IFIP International Symposium on Integrated Network Management (IM 2017) technical program will include Dissertation Sessions. The goal for those is to provide Ph.D. students in the area of Network and Service Management the opportunity to present their Ph.D. work to the wider IM audience. Authors who have completed or are expected to complete their thesis work in 2016 are eligible for the Dissertation Sessions and respective paper submissions. All accepted papers will be published in IEEE Xplore as other IM papers.

The IM 2017 Dissertation Committee will hand out a Best Dissertation Paper Award. The assessment criteria for the award include the relevance of the work for Network and Service Management, the potential of the thesis results for future engineering practice, the novelty and contribution of the work, and the quality of publications and software produced as part of the thesis.

Submission Guidelines

Eligible authors are invited to submit their work through the JEMS system. The dissertation session paper must contain the key points of the thesis, and the text structure follows that of a regular paper. It must be written in English, with at most 5 pages (excluding references), and formatted according to the IEEE double column style. The URL to the thesis text as well as the list of papers published in the course of the thesis work must be included in the reference section. Only PDF submissions will be accepted. The authors of the thesis paper will have to be the (ex-)student and his/her supervisor(s), thus, defining at most 3 authors. The Dissertation Session Co-chairs may request evidence of the defense or the formal submission of the thesis.

Authors of accepted submissions are invited to present their paper in the Dissertation Sessions of IM 2017. As stated above, the Dissertation Session papers will be included in the IM 2017 proceedings and published by IEEE Xplore.
